Third Patrol Precinct, Norfolk, VA
E. T. Gresham Company began construction of the 42,269 square foot Norfolk Third Police Precinct Facility striving for LEED Silver certification. Following a design by RRMM Architects, the project is on track to attain this goal in a variety of ways including incorporating 3.2 acres of impervious area/pavers on the 6.5 acre site, using multiple geothermal wells to provide energy efficient mechanical systems and the use of windows to provide natural lighting into the building interiors, which has proven to affect mood and create a better working condition.
This facility is like no other in the Hampton Roads; it is part police station, community center, FEMA situation bunker, fitness center, conference & management suite, offices for Homeland Security and Harbor Patrol, as well as a repair shop for vehicle, bike, and boat.
